Metro is an Indonesian private television station established by PT Media Televisi Indonesia. The station is officially on air since 25 November 2000 in Jakarta.
PT Media Televisi Indonesia is a subsidiary of the Media Group, a media business group led by Surya Paloh, who is also the owner of Media Indonesia newspaper.
PT Media Televisi Indonesia obtaining broadcasting licenses in the name of "Metro" on October 25, 1999. On 25 November 2000, Metro TV airs for the first time in the form of broadcast trials in seven cities. At first only broadcast 12 hours a day, beginning on 1 April 2001, Metro began broadcasting for 24 hours. From initially started operations with 280 employees, currently employs more than 900 MetroTV people, mostly in the newsroom and production areas.
